No visit to
Eilat is complete without a visit to the
Coral Beach Nature Preserve.
Anyone can snorkel, lying on your stomach with a mask
and a snorkel you naturally and easily float.
The coral
reef is as variegated as its inhabitants are:
ichthyologists have identified over 100 types of stony
coral and 650 species of fish in the Coral Beach
Reserve.
If you still
have reservations you can get a life preserver or a
buoyant wetsuit within the preserve. With gentle
fluttering of your swim fins, you glide above gardens of
colorful coral and shoals of exotic fish .
Enjoy
yourself but remember that you are in a nature preserve
(as is the entire Eilat coast line) collecting is
forbidden as is touching or standing on the corals.
Listen to the instructions of the Park Rangers that are
there to protect the park and to make your visit most
enjoyable. Open all year |

Yotvata Hai-Bar (Wildlife Preserve) Nature Reserve
Yotvata Hai-Bar
is
a special wildlife preserve with a unique mission of
breeding and reintroducing animals that at one time
roamed freely in this region. The herbivores roam
freely as you lazily drive among them on the circuitous
road. At the end of your drive though you can park
your car and and visit the caged carnivores as well as a
nocturnal house that lets you view animals that are only
active at night.
Directions:
Yotvata Hai-Bar Nature Reserve is on Route 90 (Dead
Sea-Eilat) between Kibbutz Yotvata and Kibbutz Samar,
about 35 kilometers north of Eilat. |

Eilat is a bottleneck one the biannual route off
migratory birds, between Europe and Africa. During
the Spring and Autumn our green areas are full of people
with spotting scope, binoculars and checklists.
Our
bird watching center is world renown do to it
incredible staff as well as the huge variety of birds
passing through.
Eilat's Serengeti
We
have a year round population of pink Flamingos in the
Salt ponds near Evrona. A shelter has been built
for viewing them without bothering them. Truly
incredible. |

scenic area surrounding a pool of water carved out by
the British that developed and filled drop by drop. If
you arrive here in the early morning or late afternoon,
and you keep very still, you may see some of the
region's wildlife, such as conies , gazelles, or flocks
of birds such as Tristam's Grackle and trumpeter
finches. Ein Netafim is the only source of water in the
area, making it a popular watering hole. |

Mt.
Yoash
One of the most striking views in the Eilat area. The
summit of Mt. Yoash overlooks the Eilat Heights' most
beautiful panorama. From this vantage point you can see
the borders of four countries – Israel, Egypt, Saudia
Arabia and Jordan. To the south you can see canyons and
cliffs, and to the east, the Gulf and city of Eilat.
